Legacies
A charitable legacy is a gift that someone leaves to a charitable organisation in their will.
They are one of the most effective ways to help you make a lasting difference to Jeremiah’s Journey and the children, young people and families that we support.
Why are legacies important?
A gift in your Will to Jeremiah’s Journey can bring hope for every child and family who need it. Your gift will fund the vital support of family therapy, Grief Journey Groups and one to one support now and for the future generations of children, young people and families who need us.
Once you’ve taken care of your loved ones, a gift of just 5% of your estate could transform a child’s life.
What is a legacy gift?
A legacy gift is a gift that someone leaves to a charity in their Will.
The most common types of legacy gifts left in Wills are:
Residuary gift: The residue (or a proportion of the residue) of an estate after all other gifts, debts and expenses have been paid.
Pecuniary gift: This is a fixed sum. This type of gift will, over time, devalue with inflation. If you want to future proof your legacy you can ask your solicitor about index-linking your gift so its value keeps pace with inflation.
Specific gift: A particular asset, for example an investment or property.
