Working Differently to Keep In Touch
Virtual Support is Successfully Working for Us!
Like many others, our teams have been working remotely for the past few months and have been busy adapting our services to safely meet the need for our support. One way we have done this is by running our first virtual 9-week group programme, in which even those self-isolating have been able to take part. The popular Zoom platform has enabled us to transfer our format to a successful on-screen version and with the help of our fundraising team, we have delivered activity packs for each week’s topic and specifically designed to each age group (children, young people and parents). We have received lots of positive feedback on our new virtual group and are looking forward to our next programme in the new year.
Below are some samples of our weekly activity packs:
With much less time spent on the road travelling to homes and schools all over Plymouth, the South Hams and East Cornwall, our clinicians have had more time to spend on the telephone supporting our families and have been able to respond more quickly to those that live further away from our City Centre base. This has been a fantastic positive and we are thrilled to be able to react more quickly to requests and referrals.
We have also been working with various local schools to develop and trial our new contactless consultations, which are now available weekly and on alternate days to ensure they are accessible to as many professionals as possible. Our consultations enable staff to ask general questions about death and dying and with the help of our new online training videos and information sheets, staff can learn how best to support children of different age groups and answer their tricky questions.
