This section of our website is for young people who are at secondary school in Plymouth and the surrounding areas e.g. Tavistock, Saltash, Torpoint and Ivybridge.
You may be looking at our website because someone significant in your life has died. We know this can be a very lonely experience and it can feel like you are the only one in your class or school who is going through what you are. You may feel that nobody understands what you’re going through. At Jeremiah’s Journey, we work with lots of young people who have experienced the death of someone important in their life. These are the ways in which we can support you:
Jeremiah's Friends
We have a group that meets once a week over 9 weeks. At Jeremiah’s Friends we combine activities with some talking to figure out some feelings you might have and think about how to cope with them, using a compassion-focused approach. We teach coping skills and resources, to help you cope with grief now and in the future. Groups can seem daunting to many people but there will be other people who are going through something similar to you, which can make you feel less alone.
1-1 Work
Sometimes when a young person needs some extra support outside of one of our groups or finds it difficult to attend a group, then someone from Jeremiah’s Journey can come and see you in school or at home. During 1-1 sessions, you will have the same Jeremiah’s Journey worker every time and it will be focused around supporting you through a difficult time.
Youth Group
This group is for 9-12 year old’s and meets monthly to take part in activities in a supportive group. Attendants have all experienced grief and need less structured support than those attending group.
