Special service to give thanks for mums
An informal friendly service will be held on Mother’s Day (Sunday 30th March) for anyone who would like to give thanks for their mum.
Celebrant Wendy Coulton, who is conducting an uplifting non-religious ceremony of thanksgiving from 11am this Sunday for mothers at Ford Park Cemetery Chapel, said:
“When deciding what to do for the Mothers’ Day event this year it presented an opportunity to raise awareness about Jeremiah’s Journey and donate the proceeds of the raffle of treats for mums and grandmothers to this fantastic local good cause. Ford Park Cemetery is itself run by a charitable trust but they did not hesitate in supporting Jeremiah’s Journey because it supports so many local families.
We hope people will join us for this informal friendly gathering to remind ourselves how much our mums do for us, to say thank you to them for their love and efforts, and to light a candle in memory of those who have passed.”
Refreshments will be available afterwards.
Our Ideas for this Mothering Sunday
Sunday 30th March 2014 is Mother’s Day when lots of people will stop to think about their mums. There are things that you could do to remember your mum on Mother’s Day or at any time of the year. It might be something simple like lighting a candle and having a quiet moment to remember. You may want to visit your mum’s favourite place, it may be a place where you could have a picnic or take some flowers or blow bubbles. If you are at school then you may have the opportunity to make a card or gift that you could put in your memory box or take to the grave.
