On Saturday 27th September we had ‘Plymouth’s First Ever Photomarathon’ at Plymouth College of Art. The idea of the event was that participants had 6 hours in which they had to take 6 pictures of 6 given topics (which were kept top secret until the day). The Topics were: My Entry Number/Plymouth; Emotion; Culture; Change; Texture and Future.
The event was a great success with over 50 people taking part. Jeremiah and the Ice Princess from Upon A Wish were there to greet everyone.
Some fantastic pictures were taken both with cameras and phones alike. This made it extremely hard for our panel of judges to pick three winners from each category. However, after much deliberation they selected their 9 winners.
The winners were revealed at the Photomarathon Prize Giving Ceremony which took place at Plymouth College of Art on Monday 6th October. Over sixty people attended and enjoyed a buffet whilst enjoying a viewing the exhibition.
Each winner received a prize such as a camera, tripod or voucher as well as their print and a certificate kindly donated by Tesco, Calumet Photographic, Truprint and Plymouth College of Art Young Arts Club.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize winners for the Under 14’s category were Klaudia Bojczenko, Daisy Guilor and Abigail Fishwick.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners for the 14-16 Category were Carolyn Henesy, Alexandra Albrighton and Connor Ruse.
And for the 17+ Category, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners were Jo Guilor, Katie Green and Leigh Acton. They were all delighted with their gifts and some even tweeted about their win!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our First Ever Photomarathon and we have already started to plan next years!
