For You When Someone Special Has Died

When someone you love has died, it can be really hard to understand what has happened. The grown-ups around you may be feeling very sad too. It can be tricky to think about who you can talk to and what you can do to help yourself feel a little better.

Here at Jeremiah’s Journey we do our best to help children just like you. When your family gets in touch with us we will make a time to meet up with you. We like to say hello and tell you about what we do. You can tell us what we can do to help.
One of the things that we do is to run a group for boys and girls just like you. We do lots of making things, a bit of talking and a bit of having fun. We hope that we can help you to think about: how you feel; how you remember your special person; and what you can do that will help you to feel better.
Here is what some of the children who have come to the groups have said about them:
“Using the memory stones helped me think about things”
“You get to make memory boxes and choose which colour you want it painted”
“I liked getting a teddy at the end of the group. I liked talking about things, this made me feel better”
“Jeremiah’s Journey helped me to stop feeling upset”
“I liked getting my coping bag because it helped me to cope when I get sad”
“It helped me to share my feelings”
“it’s very good because it helps me feel better”
“Jeremiah’s Journey is a very supportive group and helps you with what you are going through”
“It is very good and I recommend it. It is good because it helps you with your feelings”
“Everyone is friendly and kind”
“People listen to your problems”
“We got to make lots of stuff and it was really fun”
“It helps you to cope”
We know that a group isn’t always the right thing for everyone. We do meet with people on their own instead of them coming to a group. We still do drawing and making things, talking and a bit of having fun.
